Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 12, 2026
SevenCourts ("we", "us", or "our") operates the SevenCourts Admin mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and your choices regarding that information.
By using the App you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Overview
The SevenCourts Admin app is a local configuration tool that communicates with SevenCourts hardware panels over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The App is designed with a local-first, privacy-respecting architecture. It does not collect, transmit, or store personal data on external servers.
2. Information We Access
2.1 Bluetooth and Device Information
The App uses Bluetooth Low Energy to communicate with SevenCourts panels. When you connect to a panel the App reads the following hardware information:
- System ID and Panel ID
- Model number and serial number
- Firmware, hardware, and software revision strings
- Manufacturer name
- Protocol version
This information is held in memory only for the duration of your session and is not stored persistently or transmitted to any external service.
2.2 Wi-Fi Network Information
To configure a panel's network connection the App reads:
- Visible Wi-Fi network names (SSIDs), signal strength, and encryption type
- Current Wi-Fi connection status and IP address
When you configure a panel to join a Wi-Fi network you enter the network password in the App. The password is sent directly to the panel over Bluetooth and is held in app memory only for the brief moment required to complete the configuration. It is never stored on your device, logged, or transmitted elsewhere.
2.3 No Personal Data Collection
The App does not collect, request, or process any personal information such as:
- Names, email addresses, or phone numbers
- User accounts, login credentials, or profiles
- Location data (Bluetooth permissions on Android may reference location solely due to platform requirements; the App never accesses your location)
- Photos, contacts, or other device content
- Usage analytics, advertising identifiers, or behavioral data
3. Permissions
3.1 Bluetooth (Android and iOS)
Required to scan for and connect to SevenCourts panels. On Android the App requests BLUETOOTH_SCAN (with "never for location" declared), BLUETOOTH_CONNECT, and legacy Bluetooth permissions for devices running Android 11 and below.
On iOS the App requests Bluetooth Always Usage permission.
3.2 Internet and Network State (Android)
The INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permissions are declared in the Android manifest. They are used solely for opening web links (such as the SevenCourts website) when you choose to do so. The App does not make background network requests or communicate with remote servers.
3.3 Location (Android, Legacy Only)
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION is declared only for devices running Android 11 (SDK 30) and below, where it is a platform requirement for Bluetooth scanning. The App does not use your location for any purpose and does not access location data on devices running Android 12 and above.
4. Data Storage
The App does not use persistent local storage for any user or device data. All information read from panels is held in volatile memory and is discarded when you close the App. No databases, files, or caches containing device or network information are retained between sessions.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not share any data with third parties. The App does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services.
All communication occurs locally between your device and the connected SevenCourts panel over Bluetooth.
6. Optional Support Emails
The App provides an option to compose a support email addressed to
support@sevencourts.com. If you choose to send such an email, it is handled by your device's default email client and is subject to that client's own privacy practices. The email may include basic device information (such as Panel ID, firmware version, and app logs) to help diagnose issues. Sending this email is entirely voluntary and initiated by you.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App does not collect personal information from any user, no special provisions are required.
8. Data Security
Because the App operates entirely locally and does not transmit data to external servers, the risk of data exposure is inherently limited to the Bluetooth communication range between your device and the panel (typically under 10 meters). Bluetooth Low Energy connections are encrypted at the transport layer by the operating system.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete it. Since the App does not collect or store personal data, these rights are satisfied by design.
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
